TERESA
Chile
Interpreted by Francisca Lewin (Teresa) and with Diego Casanueva as Vicente Huidobro, this biographic film portrays the last ten years of this Chilean woman. We observe an aristocratic society that is highly chauvinist, in which Wilms Montt shines for her beauty, intelligence and audacity, a dangerous mix during any time period. One hundred years ago it was complex to be a woman. An aristocratic woman’s fate was to marry, have children, look after the house, stitch, and at the most, read books that did not lead her to think. Woe was she who dared to reveal her intelligence or rebel against her husband or father. She was immediately punished.
